Agriculture at Palsgaard Estate

Palsgaard Estate runs a modern farm with a focus on

  • Traditional crops such as wheat, grass seed, rapeseed, malting barley and catch crops that are suitable for the Danish climate and soil.
  • Sustainable operations: We use modern techniques and methods to minimize our environmental impact and ensure biodiversity.
  • Innovation: We are constantly experimenting with new crops and cultivation methods to find the best solutions for our farming.

Responsible agriculture

At Palsgaard, we run precision farming: We use GPS technology to document the work in the field.

Beans

One of the new crops that we are trying out is faba beans. Faba beans are a protein-rich crop that can be used as feed for animals or as food for humans. They are also a good pre-fruit for other crops, as they can fix nitrogen in the soil. They can also be used to improve soil health between crop rotations.

Cultivation of own raw materials

Rapeseed oil is an important ingredient in the emulsifiers produced by Palsgaard A/S.

Mark with your own names

All fields at Palsgaard Estate have their own place names such as Håbet, Voldstedet, Kirkholm, Langemark, Møllemark and Lottrup.

Own straw boiler since 2005

The straw from our fields is used to generate heat for the estate's buildings in our straw boiler. This is a sustainable way to heat the buildings, as the straw is a CO2-neutral energy source.

Supplier for the World Cup in football

At Palsgaard Estate, we grow red fescue grass seed, which is used for golf courses and large stadiums, among other things. We are proud to have delivered the grass seeds for the Football World Cup in Brazil in 2014.
