BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES IN PALSGAARD CASTLE PARK
The Observatory
The Danish diplomat and foreign minister Holger Christian Reedtz, who owned Palsgaard from 1835 - 1857, contributed to the conclusion of the Three Years' War (1848-1851) against Germany. He was considered highly gifted and, because of his interest in astronomy, built a star observatory.
An observatory that was later converted into a tea-house by the German prince Emil von Schoenaich-Carolath, who owned Palsgaard from 1877 – 1898. In the estate's main building you will find the binoculars from the observatory. It was passed down for generations in the Reedtz family before returning to Palsgaard.
